CURRICULUM  

Bruno Dalla Chiara is Associate Professor in Transport Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, since 2005.

He holds a master degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in transportation engineering and economics, and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, specialising in Telematics for Transport.

He has been enrolled as Researcher in Transport Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino since 1999 until 2004. He is lecturer at Politecnico di Torino for the subject "Engineering and design of transport systems", subsequently titled “Engineering and operation of transport systems”, and he has been responsible (2003-2008) for the educational module concerning Transport Safety and Security within the Master in Transport systems and telematics at the COREP-Politecnico di Torino.

He is active in research work and undertakes standardisation activities. He is the author of a number of publications, mainly concerning the engineering and design of transport systems, intermodal transport and transports telematics (ITS, Intelligent Transport Systems).

He has been peer reviewer of papers for some international congresses on mentioned subjects since 2001. He is member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal IET-Intelligent Transport Systems since 2008.

He is member of the scientific committee of the review “Ingegneria Ferroviaria”  (Railway engineering), the main Italian review on railway transport, for which he has been vice-director (2004-2008). He is author - sometimes in collaboration with non academic experts operating in the field - of some textbooks, concerning: freight villages and intermodal terminals (2002); rope transport systems (2005), with a related handbook for their automatically assisted calculation; elevators; railway systems (“Engineering and design of railway systems”, 2007); intermodal transport (2009), transport telematics or “ITS” (2010), subject for which he is responsible for the development of a multimedia ITS e-learning platform (2004-2010).
